One local group of seven owners offers an example of
families who have joined together through a covenant
agreement to limit development in their 100 acre
holding. The homeowner group formed after a major
logging venture had been completed. The group saved the
logged land from a developer who wanted to put dozens
of homes on the site. Each holding is individually
owned and maintained. Road upkeep is a shared cost.
Placing limits on subdividing the land and other
agreed-upon conditions has limited extensive
development. SInce buying in, some individual owners
have from time to time been purchasing adjacent acreage
that has been on the cusp of being sold to developers.
Homeowner associations in the area have similar
agreements.
